www.milcomtech.com

MILCOM Technologies, Inc. works exclusively with established, but not yet commercialized Defense IPR to create commercial high-tech ventures that have the potential to achieve billion dollar valuations in a 3-to-5 year period. The proprietary MILCOM venture development process includes identifying, screening and acquiring exclusive rights to qualified DoD technologies developed by tier-1 Military contractors and/or Federal Laboratories, and the subsequent conception, creation, incubation and funding of these new companies. In the last 5 years, eight new ventures created by MILCOM have attracted more than $350 million in capital. This total portfolio of companies has a current combined valuation of over $2 billion dollars.

Retained Search Projects (1999 - 2001)

  1. Wireless Multi-Media Software Platform(CEO)
  2. Smart Antenna Systems (CEO)
  3. Board Members (BOD)

Retained when a former client, for whom we had spent a 3 years helping to build a wireless software company that was eventually sold to Lucent (NYSE - LU), introduced us to MILCOM in 1999. We were engaged to design and execute highly specific search strategies, and deliver CEO's with wireless technology backgrounds gained working in both large & small, companies. Their mission was to begin with unique Defense IPR (but no executive employees), and to build those assets into real companies on a VC burn rate-sensitive schedule. Deliverables included fund raising, staffing, product evolution, deal flow, etc. This goal has been met by both of the CEO's we placed in the MILCOM portfolio, and the companies are progressing at a pace well beyond most high-tech startups during the tech stock meltdown.

Once engaged by MILCOM, we quickly enhanced our already powerful database in the wireless technology arena, and focused on companies with a non-trivial, large scaled in terms of value proposition, revenue architecture, deal size, customer base, etc. We assembled an exhaustive, domain-specific listing of source companies (key contacts) in the US & Canada from which to recruit comprising:

  1. Publicly traded pure-play companies in the space
  2. Large public companies with significant domain-specific verticals
  3. VC/private equity backed pure-play startups
